Serriya

The film "Səriyyə" is a new work by Azerbaijani director and actor Alikhan Radjabov, which touches on the acute problem of early marriage in modern society. The film tells the story of a 12-year-old schoolgirl from a rural area who is preparing to participate in the Mathematical Olympiad in Baku. However, on the day of the Olympics, her father decides to betroth his daughter to a 35-year-old relative, destroying her dreams and plans. The premiere of the film took place on November 29, 2024 in all cinemas of Azerbaijan.

Alikhan Radjabov, inspired by the desire to draw attention to the problem of early marriage, noted that society should not remain indifferent, and everyone should fight this problem to the best of their ability. He stressed that despite the refusal of support from the Ministry, the project was successfully funded by the private sector.

The film "Səriyyə" is intended to provoke a public discussion and draw attention to the need to eliminate the practice of early marriage, which deprives children of the right to education and free choice.
